woodscapes
Eva-Maria Raab captures the organic forms of driftwood on thin transparent paper. - Well-travelled wood from the Danube, carried and shaped by the movements of the river. Using the frottage technique and watercolor pencils, the artist traced the structures of the driftwood onto the paper and painted the resulting “river landscapes” with water from the Danube. The delicate drawings on the crumpled paper appear abstract and concrete at the same time. Fragile and powerful, they capture the essence of the river. Poetic works that get to the bottom of the soul of the river.
