Schwedenrot

A collection of red fassades of typical Swedish houses, showing the ranges of the traditional "faluröd".
The paint originated historically from various copper mines in Sweden and remains still popular today due to its effectiveness in preserving wood. The actual colour may be different depending on how much the oxide is burnt. Different tones of red have been popular at different times.

The photos were taken during an artist-in-residence program in Örnsköldsvik (Sweden) in cooperation with AiR Krems in June 2015.
